Belgium - Week 33 (Liege)

10/7/13

Hey everyone!

Wow, what an awesome, inspiring, uplifting week! General conference was totally awesome. What made it even better is we had 3 investigators there with us. I am so thankful to have priesthood leaders who have been called of God to give us wise and inspired council in a world where life can sometimes be super crazy.

This week we also had zone conference too which is when a bunch of missionaries get together and hear from President and Sister Poznanski. With zone conference and general conference in the same week.... I'm still on a spiritual cloud 9!

In light of all this inspiration, I decided to fix a whole bunch of goals for myself for the month of October and for the rest of the year. Could you guys help me out??? I made a goal that I want to baptize 5 people in the month of October and baptize at least one entire family for Christmas. So far we have 3 people with dates to be baptized in October so I know with a little faith and prayer and a lot of effort elder Aleccia and I can find 2 more people to bring into the waters of baptism this month.

Elder Ballard in General Conference talked about "bringing a family to Christ for Christmas" and that's what I want to do. I know there are people out there desperately searching for some peace in their lives and in the life of their family. With the Lords help I know I can find and teach and baptize them!

Please pray for me and the other missionaries in the world who have fixed similar goals.

I would also invite you to do your part to "bring a family or individual to Christ for Christmas"

Overall.... Its been a great week. Lots of finding and teaching like normal. We fixed more baptismal dates. We are supposed to have a baptism this Sunday so pray for that too!

I love you all. thanks for all you do for me. Have a great week!

Belgium - Week 32 (Liege)

9/30/13

Oh, oops, I guess I should probably translate that ;).

Basically it was another great week! Elder Aleccia was sick for a couple days this week so we had less time than normal to work, but we still saw tons of great miracles and success!

During the week we went porting (knocked on some doors) and on the same street we taught a couple lessons and found some new investigators. One of the doors we knocked was the house of a young family with three kids. They are a beautiful Belge family who were super receptive to the message we brought to their door. They believe that in the world today the family is being attacked on many fronts. We explained how a family built on Christ is better prepared to face these trials and will be more unified and happier. I love testifying about things like that because I KNOW its true. I've seen the effects in my own family. (Hel. 5:12)

Lets see.... On Tuesday Elder Aleccia and I gave a training to our zone which was super cool because we got to talk about finding. Basically we focused on how we can search all day everyday for people to teach relying on our own efforts but that won't really profit us anything. You need to rely on the spirit so you can be led to the people who are already prepared!

Tomorrow we will be doing some more training for the zone so we're excited for that.

Oh we set 2 more baptismal dates this week so that's a miracle in and of itself. That makes three total. Please Keep Gilles, Teddy and Roméo in your prayers.

Overall life is great. I have learned so much these past couple weeks living with Elder Aleccia, Hill and Andersen. They're great guys and very experienced missionaries.

ALSO!

General Conference is this weekend. For those of you who don't know... General conference is an event that happens two times a year when a living, modern day prophet of God addresses the world. I invite and challenge all of you no matter who you are or what you believe to listen to the inspired council that will be given. I promise that if you listen with an open heart and an open mind that it can change your life. You should be able to find it here at lds.org

Passez une bonne semaine mes amis!

Belguim - Week 31 (Liege)

9/23/13

Hey family and friends!

This week was full of saying "au revoir" in Brussels and full of saying "bonjour" in Liege. Again, it was really hard to say bye to those people I've come to love in Strombeek, but I know Liege is going to be awesome. I'm really looking forward to working here.

On Friday I went to Paris for a leadership meeting. I LOVEEEEE Paris. It was great to hear from President Poznanski and see some of my other missionary friends there.

Now I'm living in a new 4 man apartment with Elder Anthony Aleccia (my new companion), Elder Samuel Hill and Elder Matthew Anderson. Funny enough, all three of them are super OLD missionaries. They will all be going home in 11-17 weeks haha so I am definitely the baby of the group. I'm really looking forward to living with them and learning from all of their experience. I'll give each of them a little shout out.

Elder Hill is a jacked rugby player from Kansas. He is one of the nicest guys I've ever met (the term "gentle giant" fits him well) and he wants to be either a heart of brain surgeon. We have awesome biology conversations during meals.

Elder Anderson is the genius of the group. He is from Florida and speaks English and French fluently... but also knows Latin, and a lot of Arabic and Hebrew. He can read the bible in Hebrew which I find incredible. Its so funny to listen to the differences between the English and the Hebrew translation of the bible. Lots of precious truths are lost in translation!

Elder Aleccia is from Ohio and he is a super chill laid back guy who is great at cooking and keeping everyone else in the apartment laughing. He is super Christ like and loves missionary work! We get along super well and he found out today that his sister just got a mission call to New York! Crazyyyyy.

Like I said already, the first half of the week was full of lessons and goodbyes. The second half of the week was full of planning. (daily planning, weekly planning, transfer planning, one leader planning, etc). On my mission I've learned the importance of planning everything out. It really helps you work more effectively and accomplish more!

Despite all the planning and training meetings in Paris, we were able to get out of the apartment and do some missionary work. We found some great people, set a baptismal date with a 9 year old boy who is part of a less active family and we got a couple of people to church.

The branch here in Liege is great... about 50 or 60 members which is a ton compared to some other really tiny branches.

I hope you're all doing well. Keep the good people of Liège in your prayers. Je vous aime! Je sais que cette l'église est vrais et que cette oeuvre est l'oeuvre du le Seigneur!

Until next week,
Elder Davis
